"Writing Today"
by Samantha Viles

Writing has many different purposes and uses in today's world. As a writer in search of a market, there is a whole wide world of opportunity. Where there used to only be a handful of publishers to choose from, we're in a writing utopia. There are hundreds of options in publishing houses. A newer venue would be the internet.

The internet is a booming stage for the new age of authors. Whether you launch your own site or participate in someone else's, the possibilities are endless. The writer of this generation is now able to search for an agent, a publisher or just a home to post their work. Endless resources expedite pursuit of what Studs Terkel wrote about. Not all "American dreams" are created equally. Much like anyone with a pen and paper can write, the internet allows writers to strut their abilities for all to see. The parade of proficiency can be full of the attention grabbing bells and whistles or lackluster with over exertion of the creator.

The key is to find an audience and find your niche as a writer. For some their muse inspires poetry, while others opt for fiction. A multitude of genres exist to then plague the writer's choice of direction. When it comes right down to it, choice is the obstacle from start to finish. The wrong choice can plunge the writer into the depths of obscurity while a good choice will reveal to the writer everything they seek. Success will more easily attained if the course intended is mapped out a bit in advance. To achieve the dream, plot your strategy, work hard for it, and remember nothing is ever free. Don't let yourself be fooled into taking the easy way.

Poetry:
"Peel off the Facial"
by Parasuram Ramamoorthi

Peel off the facial
Layer by layer
Ah I see a beauty
Probing eyes
Desiring to know
Hands that touch the earth
Smell the Green
Ask questions
But keep asking
You are the centre of the universe
Not burdened by your past
Throw the past away
There is a fresh leaf on the yellow hibiscus every day
Touch smell feel the greenness all around you
You are on your way to Peace.

"You"
by Michael Adams

Since you've been gone- I've felt nothing but pain.
I have felt how the clouds must feel before the rain,
I want you to come back more and more everyday,
But deep down inside I know there is no way,
I look up at the stars and I know we are under the same sky,
But we aren't together and I constantly question why?
I finally found you and then you just disappear,
I want to hold you close- I want to feel you near,
We are not apart by choice- yes this is true,
But I do have a longing to be next to you,
To feel your arms- to feel your kiss,
It's everything about you that I do miss,
It feels like you've been gone forever and a day,
When you do return I'll long for you to stay,
I felt something click when I first looked at you,
Something in your eyes told me so much and that's when I knew,
I knew that you were special and you would amaze me so,
Then the day you sailed- I hated to see you go,
To watch the days go by is now all I can really do,
As I sit here and dream while I wait for you.

"Sadness"
by Samantha Viles

Desire for peace makes
My heart ache.
Peace of being and of mind.
The pain in my head
Blinds me to the good.
I just want to lay down and
End my pain.
The weight of my worries
Sliding away as
Eternal slumber consumes.
Before my light
Extinguishes I hope to
Feel the warmth of happiness
Just once as fleeting as it
May be.
The clouds of darkness clear
The heaviness leaves my heart
I whisper my farewell to
All of those who have
Touched my life and
Tell them not to be sad
For I have found
Peace.

"Eagle's Feather"
by Justin Schwan

A feather falls on the surface of a lake
The wind dies down
That is all it takes
For the water to become calm and clear
And the feather floats to me, right here

I pick it up
It is the feather of an Eagle up high
He needs not this feather to fly
So now it is mine
The feather brown
A golden hue
My soul feels black
But not in evil
Does it loom

I wish to use this feather if I can
Tie it together with another feather
This is better
To fly to the Eagle’s nest
And see if I can rest
And watch the lake and the wind
And watch both pick up again

The wind blowing strong
The lake swirling all around
Me sitting here watching it all
Wondering how, the Eagle can be so tall

And me, in It’s nest
Dare I fall,
If I try to fly at all,
Even with the feather,
In my grasp?

The boat rocks gently,
Wind blowing here and there
The water waves again
And the feather’s gone
Current taking it to the fall
And I row back to the center of the lake
And take a break
And watch the Eagle hover over the world
Dropping feathers as It roams

"Like Falling Leaves"
by Ricardo Chavez

You hear that, it’s the sound of falling leaves
And do you know what that means?
It means that He is near
But do not tremble and fear

You are in your darkest hour
Do you feel Him gaining power,
Its because you’re fading away
I’m afraid that this time you can’t stay

Like falling leaves you can’t last forever
I’ll never say never
But your dream is about to end
You tried your best, but this you could not defend

In the end you lose and He wins
And now your fall shall begin
You’re fading away into nothing
Too bad, you could have been something

Like falling leaves you fall into nothingness
In life, your bliss was your own ignorance
Your time and soul is fleeting
And by this you are feeding,

His insatiable hunger for life
Like the rest you will put up a bitter strife
But to no avail
Like the rest you shall fail

But like all the rest you shouldn’t fear
Like falling leaves you will be no where near here
You will take another form
But your body will be torn

Where you go no one will know
But He’ll take you there and show,
You, whether it be Heaven or Hell
Or a Cycle no one can tell

But He’ll take you there
So don’t be in despair
Like falling leaves you will cease
Now close your eyes, and Sleep.

Music:
"If"
by Hanna

**If being alone
Means I’m waiting for you
Then being alone
Is what I wanna do**

If crying at night
Helps me to get through
Then I’ll cry all night
Until I see you

If you don’t want me
To hurt myself
Then I’ll throw away the razor
On my shelf

** chorus**

If you want me happy
Then I can smile
As long as you stay with me
All the while

If you want me to stay
I will stay for you
Promise not to leave me
And I’ll stay right through

**chorus**

If you love me-
And I hope you do
Then never ever leave me
I wanna be with you

Promise
Never ever leave me
I wanna be with you (X3)

Cuz
I wanna
Be with you.
